Privacy Policy for NoiseRadar

Effective date: October 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how NoiseRadar handles information when you use the NoiseRadar iOS app. NoiseRadar is a local sound-direction utility for iPhone that estimates the direction of nearby sounds, shows broad sound type labels, can provide optional foreground threshold alerts, and can generate local session reports. The app is built to work locally on your device.

Data Collection

NoiseRadar does not collect personal data from users. The app does not require an account, does not ask for your name or email address, and does not send microphone audio, sound labels, compass heading, device motion, scan results, alert settings, calibration settings, share reports, or event history to a server controlled by us.

Microphone Access

NoiseRadar requests microphone access to measure sound levels and classify broad sound types during Scan 360 and Listen modes. Audio is processed on your device. NoiseRadar does not record, save, upload, sell, or share microphone audio.

Sound Classification

NoiseRadar uses Apple's on-device sound analysis technology to show broad estimated categories such as human voice, vehicles, mechanical sounds, animals, alarms, music, nature, household, and impact sounds. This processing is performed locally on the iPhone and does not require an internet connection.

Location, Compass, and Motion

NoiseRadar requests Location access because iOS provides compass heading through Location Services. The app uses compass heading to estimate which direction had the strongest sound during a scan. NoiseRadar also uses device motion to check rotation speed while the user turns. These calculations happen on your device and are not sent to us.

Local App State and History

NoiseRadar may keep temporary local app state while the app is open, such as current sound level, current sound category, scan progress, direction results, and recent in-memory sound events. This information is used only to operate app features on your device. Recent event history is local to the app session and is not transmitted to us.

Alerts, Calibration, and Share Reports

NoiseRadar can store threshold alert preferences and manual calibration offset settings locally on your device. If you choose to share a report, NoiseRadar generates temporary text and CSV files from the current local session and opens the iOS share sheet. You control where those files are sent. NoiseRadar does not send reports to us.

No Advertising or Tracking

NoiseRadar does not use third-party advertising SDKs, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).

No Analytics or Third-Party Data Collection

NoiseRadar does not include analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or other third-party SDKs that collect user data.

Children's Privacy

NoiseRadar is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Retention

Because NoiseRadar does not collect personal data, we do not retain personal data on our servers. Local temporary app state remains on your device only as needed for the app to operate. Alert and calibration settings remain on your device until you change them, reset them, or delete the app.

Your Privacy Choices

You can revoke microphone, location, and motion access at any time in iOS Settings. Some app features may not work when related permissions are disabled. You can remove locally stored app data by deleting NoiseRadar from your device.

Important Usage Limits

NoiseRadar provides casual sound-direction and sound-category estimates only. It is not a certified acoustic instrument, emergency service, security system, surveillance tool, medical tool, or professional measurement device. Direction results and sound labels may be affected by background noise, echoes, overlapping sounds, microphone position, compass accuracy, phone movement, and rotation speed.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if NoiseRadar's features or data practices change. Any updated policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
